masquemusique:
My entire life, I have grown up with Harry Potter. He has stood beside me, and been my friend for so long that I cannot remember not knowing him. He and his friends and teachers and everyone else helped me grow up. Each of them helped me through crisis after crisis- Harry was my best friend growing up. Hermione sat by me, and read over my shoulder, while Ron encouraged me every time I failed. Madam Pomfrey took care of me when I was sick. Dumbledore whispered kind words to me when my school’s principal was cruel. Snape stood beside me with his hand on my shoulder each time a loved one died. Many characters have become a part of me, and now that their story is over, I feel obligated to thank them.
Many people say that the story of Harry Potter is just a figment of our imaginations, created by one brilliant woman. However, I just want to repeat the words of a brilliant man- “Of course it is happening inside [our imaginations], but why on Earth should that mean that it is not real?”
- Harry taught me to live.
- Hermione taught me to be brilliant.
- Ron taught me to be the best I can.
- Luna taught me to be myself.
- Neville taught me to be brave.
- Seamus taught me to try hard.
- George taught me to laugh.
- Fred taught me to love my siblings until the end.
- Ginny taught me to face up to those I love.
- Percy taught me that being in power isn’t always the best thing to be.
- Bill taught me to take a blow.
- Fleur taught me to see true beauty.
- Hagrid taught me to stand for what I believe in.
- Molly taught me to fight for what I believe in.
- Arthur taught me to live for what I love.
- Draco taught me to choose my friends carefully.
- Narcissa taught me to care for my family above everything.
- James taught me to go for it, whatever “it” is.
- Lily taught me what words cannot explain.
- Sirius taught me to never give up on hope.
- Aberforth taught me that giving up when things seem hopeless is wrong.
- Rita Skeeter taught me to try to seek the truth, and showed me that twisting it will only result in disaster.
- The Ministry showed me that twisting the truth is never right, and that politicians are strange.
- Lupin taught me to be strong.
- Tonks taught me to be unique.
- Regulus taught me to turn back and change my life for the better.
- Kreacher taught me to trust those who trust me.
- Dobby taught me to be free.
- McGonagall taught me to correct others when they are doing wrong.
- Voldemort taught me nothing, but showed me that killing people doesn’t make them like you, it just makes people dead.
- Albus Dumbledore taught me to learn.
- Severus Snape taught me to love.
- And JK Rowling taught me all of this, and to imagine a whole new world.
Thank you, for everything.
I posted this on my other blog (my personal) right after I saw the movie. I’m actually still crying, and I’m afraid my computer is going to get wet, so I’ll just make one comment- Though their story is over, they will always be with me.
